Abby:Day 6; Eureka!

This morning we enjoyed a wonderful breakfast at the Historic Strater Hotel. We then headed towards the Durango and Silverton Railroad train station and explored the gift shop. We got a couple of pictures before boarding the bus that would take us one way to Silverton. The ride was beautiful, and we had a wonderful driver/tour guide. When we got to Silverton, the first stop was the bathroom, and the second stop was a mini bus. We took the scenic route to the mine. There we ate our lunch and got suited up for going into the mine. The ride down, or actually up, wasn't that bad. It was very wet and a little chilly but otherwise amazing. When we got back up we got to try our hand at panning for gold, silver, and cooper. Aunt Stacy found very small pieces of gold, and I found cooper. We headed back to town to explore the shops and find geocaches. Then we boarded onto the train. The ride back was long with beautiful views and frequent naps. When we got back we had dinner at the Diamond Belle Saloon with wonderful music. The piano man even played us our own mini Billy Joel concert. It featured his popular song "Piano Man". After dinner we explored town and, while looking for a geocache, met a fellow geocacher. : D From there we headed back to the hotel and called it a night. Sorry fro this being late, I was exhausted last night. Write more soon!
